2nd Annual Golf Tournament Raises Over $15,000

Blue Marlin Realty Group hosted our second annual charity golf tournament at Regatta Bay Golf and Country Club on Friday, November 14, 2014, benefitting The Taylor Haugen Foundation. In total, the Blue Marlin Realty Group raised $15,087.00, which will fund three scholarships for Okaloosa county senior high school student-athletes and THF YESS Program which equips youth contact sports teams with the same technologically advanced safety equipment that professional athletes wear. Brian and Kathy Haugen created the foundation in memory of their late son, Taylor, who passed away from a football related injury in 2008.

Over 200 members of the local community joined together to participate in the charity golf tournament as sponsors, tournament players, raffle item donors, food and beverage donors, and volunteers. Over 120 golfers were greeted with mimosas, provided by putting green sponsor, Bracken Law, P.A. as well as beverages provided by driving range sponsor, Clear Harbor Wealth Management.  All golfers and volunteers enjoyed lunch courtesy of Lenny’s Sub Shop of Destin, La Paz margaritas, beer by Landshark Pizza Co., Bloody Marys by Ruth’s Chris Steak House, and Fireball Whiskey from Century Fire Protection. Beaches Resorts and Parks Magazine and Henderson Park Inn sponsored the clubhouse party, which included live raffles, silent auction, team and individual awards. Winning bidders and raffle prizewinners went home with prizes among many such as a Bote Board, a stay at Henderson Park Inn, sports memorabilia, and more. Following the after party attendees were transported by the 850 Beach Party Bus to La Paz for dinner and an after party.

Co-owners and brokers of Blue Marlin Realty Group, Johnathan Hughes and Jerry Sullivan, are beyond thrilled at the continued success of the tournament.

“It is so exciting to see how the tournament has grown so significantly in just one year,” Hughes said.

“Our goal for the golf tournament was to make a difference in the local community,” said Co-broker Jerry Sullivan. “We will continue to pick a new local charity each year and hope to raise more money with every tournament.”

The money raised we will be able to outfit an entire school with protective equipment including middle school, junior varsity and varsity contact sports athletes.  Brian Haugen of the Taylor Haugen Foundation comments,  “We want the Blue Marlin Realty Group team to be there with us when we go to outfit the teams. It will be a truly amazing experience for them to see how their efforts will impact so many lives.”
