Century 21 Blue Marlin hosted their fourth annual charity golf tournament at Regatta Bay Golf and Yacht Club on Friday, October 7, 2016, benefitting the Silver Sands School. Century 21 Blue Marlin raised $40,000 for the Special Day School, which provides educational services to students who because of their mental functioning levels require services beyond those offered by other special educational programs in regular schools.
Over 200 members of the local community joined together to participate in the charity golf tournament as sponsors, tournament players, raffle item donors, food and beverage donors, and volunteers. 120 golfers were greeted with Shrimp and Grits from Another Broken Egg, assorted Grayton Beer Company brews and Shore Thing Cigars Cut & Light Station with premium cigars for golfers to enjoy. Prior to the shotgun start, golfers grabbed lunch to-go from Lenny’s Sub Shop of Destin, who set up on the driving range. Throughout the course golfers enjoyed libations including beer by Landshark’s Pizza Co., Arnold Palmers by Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Chaste 850, Bloody Marys by Sunset Bay Cafe and Pineapple Rum Punch by Community Bank. Additionally, golfers enjoyed interactive hole sponsors including demo rides by Lopifit, the world’s first walking bicycle, giveaways from Coastal Skin Surgery & Dermatology and Eye MD of Niceville, a straightest drive contest sponsored by The Henderson and hole in one chance to win a Buick donated by Lee Buick GMC of Crestview, Florida.
Bracken Law, PA. sponsored the clubhouse, which hosted the after party catered by Landshark’s Pizza Co. Golfers and guests enjoyed live raffles, silent auction, team and individual awards. Winning bidders and raffle prize winners went home with prizes such as a 4-day/3-night Costa Rican stay, GUSU paddle boards, sports memorabilia, local restaurant gift cards, watersports packages, and more.Co-owners and brokers of Century 21 Blue Marlin, Johnathan Hughes and Jerry Sullivan, continue to be astounded by the community’s support of the charity golf tournament.

The money raised from the Century 21 Blue Marlin Charity Golf Tournament will be used for augmentative communication for non-verbal students, shades and coverings for the school’s playground and pool, and adaptive equipment for Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy.Century 21 Blue Marlin would like to extend a special thank you to our generous sponsors including “Head of the Class” sponsor Rodgers Kiefer Title who donated $5,000 to the tournament.

The Century 21 Blue Marlin Charity Golf Tournament has raised a total of approximately $85,000 for local charities including The Mary Lynn Burnette Foundation, The Taylor Haugen Foundation, Emerald Coast Golden Retriever Rescue and most recently, Silver Sands School.Century 21 Blue Marlin will begin accepting nominations for the 2017 Charity Golf Tournament beneficiary February 1, 2017.
